Elizabeth Coffman is a documentary filmmaker, writer, Professor and educational leader. Born in Florida, she produces films about writers, artists and communities in environmental crisis.
Elizabeth co-directed documentary Flannery with O'Connor scholar Mark Bosco, co-produced with partner/cinematographer Ted Hardin. The film won the 2019 Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns prize for film; broadcast on PBS’s American Masters in 2021. See flanneryfilm.com for more information.
Elizabeth was co-executive producer for Ethan Hawke’s 2024 film Wildcat. Ted just released A Gathering of Strangers: the Making of the Merchant in Venice. Elizabeth and Ted continue to release film work with their company Long Distance Productions and Long Distance Educational Media. They are in production for Venice is Thinking, an environmental look at the Italian city facing rising tides and endless tourists.
